About Jennifer

Joy. Fortitude. Love.

Jennifer F. Lewis was brought onto this earth with a mission to spread joy, love and humility. Her impression to all was one of inner beauty from the start. As an angel on earth, devotion to her family and friends never failed. During her sophomore year at Baltimore Polytechnic Institute (Poly), Jennifer was first diagnosed with ovarian cancer. During her college years, Jennifer emerged as a true leader at the University of Maryland, College Park taking various leadership roles through the NAACP, Black Student Union, and the Kappa Phi Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated to name a few. With a strong mind and courageous spirit which captivated everyone she encountered, Jennifer faced her last battle with cancer ready to fight.

Jennifer's ultimate goal was to become a lawyer, focusing on social justice and human rights. She felt compelled to advocate for those who did not have a voice. Although she did not accomplish her goal as she envisioned by attending law school, she still managed to speak out against inequality through her civic involvement; igniting others to do the same.

Her virtues of strength, courage, hope, intelligence and determination are a few examples of characteristics that she exhibited on a daily basis. Full of life, she did not let adversity stand in her way. She taught those who were blessed by her presence to never give up.  Her presence

brought joy to all; she was a woman with esteemed grace.  She was known for her spontaneity and enthusiasm. Notorious for her love of domestic and international travel, she spearheaded many excursions for family and friends. She did anything and everything to support the people she loved with sincerity.  Jennifer was a friend to all, and many were blessed by her presence. Her legacy lives on through her family, friends and The Jennifer F Lewis Foundation.
